‘Agent’ was a spy game being developed by BioWare

Eurogamer has reported that in 2009 BioWare was working on a spy RPG game called ‘Agent’, the game was going to be a PS3 exclusive but EA didn’t approve of the game’s concept. Trent Oster had this to say about the concept:

“The concept was to do the other half of GoldenEye, the idea being that James Bond isn’t just a gun that walks around the world and shoots people. He’s a suave manipulator, he’s a talented martial artist, he’s a secret agent. We wanted to cross that 007 with Jason Bourne, where he’s been modified in some way; you’re not sure what, but he’s definitely deadly.

“We really wanted to push the acting side, the digital acting. We really wanted to be very high drama, very intense scenes. I always think of the scene in the second Bourne movie where Jason Bourne’s choking the guy out with a book and he’s right in his face and it’s this very intense moment. That was one of the key things we wanted to carry off.”

Sounds like a solid concept, especially coming from the studio that created the memorable original IP Jade Empire, so why wouldn’t EA try the game and trust BioWare? According to Trent it was because the game “failed to survive the recession.”

Maybe we’ll see ‘Agent’ down the road one day, maybe as a multiplatform game? Only time and EA’s trust in BioWare will tell.

I want to write part 1: How to get started

There are a lot of people who want to write and there are a lot of people who can but doesn’t know where to start. If there is one thing I know, other than video games, it’s the harsh reality of trying to get your writing noticed.

My name is Michael Mosley and I’m a freelance writer and I have written for two other video game websites. I wrote news articles for the now defunct Explicit Gamer and I am now an associate editor at OmniGamer.

4LOGPC Interview: Tails and Tactics

We all love video games, no matter if you’re the casual player or the player that has a love for the culture; games ranging from simple puzzles to MMOs have always made a big splash but what about card games?

The trading card world is still strong as people are still playing a number of card series from the kid friendly rules of Pokémon to the complex world of Magic: The Gathering.

There’s still a big dedicated following when it comes to the trading card scene and Pedro “Reynard” Loustaunau, creator and lead developer of Tails and Tactics, is one of those people who are not only dedicated but has a passion for trading card games.

Sleeping Dogs Review: This year’s sleeper surprise of the summer

Sleeping Dogs is the sleeper surprise of the summer and maybe even the year, the game does what GTA 4 tried to do; and in the mind of many fans failed horribly at, telling a story with interesting characters and a plot that was easy to follow.

What’s In A Character and The World

What United Fronts, the game’s developers, does right is make the main character likeable and not a one dimensional cookie cutter anti-hero.RockStar tried to make the player sympathies for Niko Bellic by making him a “good person in heart that always get caught up in situation where he’s forced to do wrong and he wants to turn his life around” character, whereas United Fronts let players know right away that Wei Shen is an undercover cop.Players won’t have to worry about being reminded that Wei is a character you should feel sorry for because Wei never stops to whine about how bad life has been.

Right off the bat you can see that Wei is a tough person not because he’s a cop that breaks the rules and he is a loose cannon but because he knows a thing or two about the streets.United Fronts was able to make Wei a more believable and interesting character within the first couple of main missions than RockStar was able to do with Niko throughout all of GTA 4.I only bring up GTA 4 because I know people are comparing the two but that’s actually unfair, Sleeping Dogs has an open world but it’s much smaller than GTA and Saints Row.

This is a good thing; the game has focus and is trying to separate itself from the likes of Saints Row and GTA.While it’s easy to become distracted with a bunch of meaningless side quests and missions that open world games are known for Sleeping Dogs keeps even the side jobs in the game’s story in certain ways.Wei is an undercover cop, so it makes sense that he’s busting drug deals and solving cases on the side of the game’s main story. There are also races and brawls that the player can chose to do if they feel like exploring Hong Kong for a while.

FF Versus 13 Quietly Cancelled?

According to Kotaku sources SquareEnix has canceled the one Final Fantasy game that fans actually wanted, other than a re-release of FF7 in HD, Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

SquareEnix plans to continue ahead with the Fabula Nova Crystallis series, FF Agito 13 (or Type-o as it has been renamed) still has no official date or announcement for lands beyond Japan.

On September 1st SquareEnix is celebrating 25 years of the Final Fantasy franchise  and they have announced that they would be doing a presentation called “Final Fantasy XIII Lightnight Saga: New Developments Presentation”, the panel is to talk about “details on the future of the FFXIII project”.

Multiple sources have said that SquareEnix has chosen not to announced Versus XIII as canceled, instead they plan to let the buzz for the game die down and end quietly without making an official announcement.

One source has even come out to say the game “has been canceled for the last few weeks, it had an impact on the staff” when they found out.

After the embarrassment of FF XIV and fans getting a cheap PC port instead of remake of FF 7 is SqaureEnix digging themselves a grave on purpose or are they getting ready for a big surprise announcement at the 25th anniversary celebration?
