Grand Theft Auto V 2012 Release Date Accidently Confirmed?

Grand Theft Auto V still might release late 2012.

Take-Two reported their earnings for the 2012 fiscal year with a $108 million dollar loss. LA Noire did manage to sell 5 million units, but Take-Two didn’t have their Game of the Year Winner, Red Dead Redemption to make them some serious cash.

Where it gets interesting is Take-Two’s expected earnings for the rest of the 2012 fiscal year. During an investor call, Take-Two stated they wanted to make about $1.85 billion with their upcoming titles; Bioshock Infinite, Borderlands 2, X-Com, and NBA 2K13. The issue is that if you add up the projected earnings for those titles, it leaves about $600 million unaccounted for.

Since Bioshock Infinite is releasing in February, (the fiscal year ends in March) it would seem likely that Grand Theft Auto V will be shipping sometime this year. Unless Red Dead Redemption 2 is secretly in production, or Take-Two thinks Borderlands 2 will sell a massive amount units above their expected numbers, it is very likely that the rumors of Grand Theft Auto V hitting stores in October could be real. Maybe Nintendo is planning a possible Wii U port, and Grand Theft Auto V could be making it’s way as a launch title.
