E3 2014 Sony Predictions: God of War 4, New IP from Quantic and Guerrilla, and The Last Guardian

Sony lgo E3 2014 Sony Predictions: God of War 4, New IP from Quantic and Guerrilla, and The Last Guardian

Sony is expected to bring some big announcements to E3 2014, but what games will they show? God of War and Uncharted are likely, but what about some new IP from Quantic Dream and Guerrilla?

E3 2014 is set to be a groundbreaking event. I already talked about what I expect and want to hear from Microsoft and Nintendo earlier this week, but there is still one company that will be at E3 2014, and possibly will have the biggest show of all of the big players. Sony has done some amazing work this generation, and considering we are extremely early in the generation that is saying a lot. With over 7 million consoles sold to this point Sony has the momentum, and the Playstation 4 has become a great place for gamers and developers alike.  Sony is always the hardest to predict simply because they have the most first party studios that are working on new projects that are kept under wraps usually quite well, but that doesn’t mean I am not going to try to predict what is coming to the Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita.

First I am going to start with the Playstation Vita. This hand held device from Sony is still having a really tough time moving units. Despite being out for over 2 years, has still not managed to sell 10 million units. You can speculate all day why this is, but I believe it simply due to lack of compelling software for the hand held market. Sony’s strategy has always been creating a the Playstation experience on the go, which is exactly what the Playstation Vita is, but it is clear a majority of gamers are not looking for that type of experience.

E3 2014 Microsoft Predictions: Halo 5, Banjo 3, Alan Wake 2, Forza Horizon 2, New IP, and A Price Cut

Xbox One Day One Shot E3 2014 Microsoft Predictions: Halo 5, Banjo 3, Alan Wake 2, Forza Horizon 2, New IP, and A Price Cut

E3 2014 for Microsoft and the Xbox One is shaping up to be a blockbuster event. Gamers know a new Halo is coming, but what about the return of some franchises like Banjo Kazooie, Alan Wake, and Forza Horizon?

I kicked off my E3 2014 predictions with the oddball of the group yesterday, Nintendo. While we still have no idea if Nintendo will even be at E3 2014 in a more traditional sense, we know that the other two big players Microsoft and Sony will be at the show with big presentations in hand.

Microsoft has had a fairly successful console launch with the Xbox One, which is amazing considering all of the negative energy surrounding the console before its’ launch, but Microsoft has been extremely quite since the release of Titanfall back in March. E3 2014 needs to be a huge show for Microsoft for many reasons, but the biggest being a lot of consumers are finding it difficult to to pick up the Xbox One when the competition has the cheaper console. Like I said with Nintendo, Microsoft needs to use their E3 conference to remind gamers what makes the Xbox experience unique, but more importantly why the Xbox brand is one that focuses on games.

So lets get started with some easy predictions.

E3 2014 Nintendo Predictions: Wii U Redesign, Zelda Wii U, New Mario, and Release Dates Galore

E3 2014 could be a new start for Nintendo and the Wii U, that is if they even show up. Could a new Zelda and Mario show up for Wii U? How about a redesigned Wii U console and Gamepad?

E3 2014 is set to be a real blockbuster of a E3 showing. I know people say  that every year, myself included, but something about this year feels epic already. Maybe it is the fact that all major developers and publishers seem to be holding their cards close to their chest after the arrival of the Xbox One and PS4, or it could be that Microsoft and Sony are already hyping of their show over a month before it happens. Either way, something about E3 2014 feels as if its going to be a huge show, but what about the third player in the “console war?” Nintendo has spent a lot of time lately showing what we already know. Last year they barely had an E3 presence and was ultimately left in behind when it came to gaming talk due to their lackluster showing of pretty much anything. Will E3 2014 be any different?

I guess the first big question is if Nintendo will even have any kind of actual E3 presentation, or will they simply do another Nintendo Direct like last year? That is honestly the hardest question to answer right now. Nintendo is in such a weird spot right now it is impossible to see what their next move is. Personally, I have the feeling they will show up to E3 2014 with a presentation ready in a more traditional sense that gamers are used to. If Nintendo decides to not have a press conference I think it will just end up hurting them even more than last year.
