E3 2014 Nintendo Predictions: Wii U Redesign, Zelda Wii U, New Mario, and Release Dates Galore

Nintendo Logo E3 2014 Nintendo Predictions: Wii U Redesign, Zelda Wii U, New Mario, and Release Dates Galore

E3 2014 could be a new start for Nintendo and the Wii U, that is if they even show up. Could a new Zelda and Mario show up for Wii U? How about a redesigned Wii U console and Gamepad?

E3 2014 is set to be a real blockbuster of a E3 showing. I know people say ¬†that every year, myself included, but something about this year feels epic already. Maybe it is the fact that all major developers and publishers seem to be holding their cards close to their chest after the arrival of the Xbox One and PS4, or it could be that Microsoft and Sony are already hyping of their show over a month before it happens. Either way, something about E3 2014 feels as if its going to be a huge show, but what about the third player in the “console war?” Nintendo has spent a lot of time lately showing what we already know. Last year they barely had an E3 presence and was ultimately left in behind when it came to gaming talk due to their lackluster showing of pretty much anything. Will E3 2014 be any different?

I guess the first big question is if Nintendo will even have any kind of actual E3 presentation, or will they simply do another Nintendo Direct like last year? That is honestly the hardest question to answer right now. Nintendo is in such a weird spot right now it is impossible to see what their next move is. Personally, I have the feeling they will show up to E3 2014 with a presentation ready in a more traditional sense that gamers are used to. If Nintendo decides to not have a press conference I think it will just end up hurting them even more than last year.

Microsoft 2013 Predictions: Xbox 720, Killer Instinct, Alan Wake 2, New Controller, Call of Duty Future Warfare

Microsoft Logo 1024x243 Microsoft 2013 Predictions: Xbox 720, Killer Instinct, Alan Wake 2, New Controller, Call of Duty Future Warfare

2013 will behold a new Xbox, possible returns of big franchises, and the evolution of the Xbox controller.

The Xbox 360 made a statement this generation. With the original Xbox only surpassing 24 million units worldwide, Microsoft found themselves selling a few million consoles more than Nintendo, but obviously came nowhere close to Sony’s Playstation 2. With the Xbox 360, however, Microsoft made a statement, and proved that they are here to stay in the gaming universe. 2013 is going to be a big year for Microsoft; with the rumors of a new console, new Kinect, and new games from Microsoft 1st parties, 2013 could prove to be the most important year for Microsoft since the launch of the Xbox 360.

Let’s get this out of the way right now: Even with all of the rumors, such as poor chip quality for the next Xbox, there is no doubt in my mind that Microsoft will be releasing a new console in 2013. There is a ton of evidence supporting this theory, besides the supposed leaks of Microsoft documentation. Microsoft has been very quiet about what the second half of 2013 will look like for the Xbox brand. I believe this is simply because there is a new console slated for release, and they don’t want to talk about the console before the holidays.

Nintendo 2013 Predictions: 3DS Lite, Zelda Ocarina HD, Mario 64 U, Price Cuts and GTA V

Nintendo Logo Nintendo 2013 Predictions: 3DS Lite, Zelda Ocarina HD, Mario 64 U, Price Cuts and GTA V

Nintendo needs to wow in 2013. Titles like Zelda and Mario needs to make their way to the Wii U, and the 3DS needs a redesign.

2012 was a year that Nintendo needed to be monumental. With the harsh reception of the 3DS due to lack of software and price, and the launch of a new console, Nintendo had a lot of ground to cover in only a year. The Wii U has officially launched, and the 3DS XL has been introduced to try and help the 3DS market. 2013 is a year that could very well make or break Nintendo.

First up is the 3DS. I personally have not yet purchased a 3DS, and that is mostly because there isn’t a model out that grabs my interest. The 3DS XL is a big improvement over the 3DS is terms of screen quality, but the battery life and lack of a second analog stick is still a massive problem. Nintendo’s excuse of there isn’t enough space just doesn’t cut it with me either. In fact, I am still puzzled as to why Nintendo brought out the 3DS XL in the first place. There weren’t too many people that asked for a bigger screen.
