The Top 3 Games of E3 2012

Casey: Watch Dogs

I’ve always found E3 to be an eye opening experience; presenting myself, as well as the masses, with the future of technology. We go about our daily lives knowing the world as it is, E3 2012 gives a brief glimpse at the world of technology as it will be. Watch Dogs is the future.

Unexpected, by anyone, at E3; Ubisoft announced Watch Dogs, with a lengthy gameplay trailer. Watch Dogs displayed a great physics engine, amazing lighting effects and textures, and an intriguing, yet unknown, storyline; complete with a multiplayer teaser at the end. I chose Watch Dogs for my Best of Show because it is a brand new IP, which looks to blend all of the elements I enjoy in a game, combined with an open-world cityscape to explore and hack. I can’t wait for this one release. I feel like I haven’t said that in a while.

E3 2012: Watch Dogs Revealed at Ubisoft’s E3 Press Conference

Watch Dogs Revealed, who controls the world?

Up until the final minutes of their press conference at E3, it was clear that Ubisoft had the most impressive show. But it was in those final minutes that Ubisoft  truly out shined the rest; with the unveiling of a breathtaking new IP, developed by Ubisoft Montreal, entitled Watch Dogs.

They were very shy going into the reveal, following a narrative trailer; they referred to it as “CTOS”. It was not until they began the gameplay reveal they forcibly grabbed my attention. It begins in a busy city street, shown also on a minimap in the corner, which leads me to believe, with hopeful ambition, that Watch Dog is an open world game (not unlike Grand Theft Auto). You follow a mysterious hacker in a trench coat and baseball cap as he walks past a line of people outside a club.
